BZ-01: Appointment, Calendar Programs --------------------------------------------- #27013/0766 Appointment Calendar & Scheduling Small Programs Disk --------------------------------------------- Appointment Calendar 1.9 (APPCAL) FM Software $10 is a quick, easy and simple appointment calendar program. The main display shows the current month on the left with days that have appointments marked with a dot. Appointments for the selected day appear in a box on the right. Appointment files can be searched a year at a time and six months can be viewed at once. The day, month and year can be quickly changed with the cursor keys. Calendr 1.2 Wright, David S. $15 displays events and appointment messages. By pressing the appropriate key, you can see entries for the current day, the next seven days, the last seven days, or the next 30 days. It is easy to enter, edit, delete or print messages. Daily Calendar (DCAL) Spencer, Garry $0 will display a three-month calendar centered on the system date or a specified date. The program makes attractive use of colors. Easter Schimmel, Fred will calculate the date that Easter falls on between the years 1900 and 2099. 'C' source code is included. EzTickle 2.0 (EZTICKL) Beltech Service $25 maintains and produces to-do lists. You can enter up to 400 characters (8 lines of 50 characters each) for each task. It provides you with assignment billing information with each task. Billing information consists of 3-digit client code, 2-digit project code, 2-digit subproject code, initials of person assigned, and number of units. Units can be days, hours, dollars or any other unit you can bill by. Wild-card dates let you code activities to show up on the first Monday of the month, every Friday of every month, or Tuesday of a specific month, etc. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #0766 -------------------------------- -------------------------------------- #27013/1097 Calendar Printing Programs Small Programs Disk -------------------------------------- Almanac gives you a list of birth and death dates of famous individuals, historic events and a few holidays. Big-Cal Ford, Nelson , ASP $15 creates a large one-month calendar with a big square for each day for entering appointments, etc. The calendar is formatted to print out either on two pages which are to be taped together side-by-side to create one big monthly calendar, or on just one page either vertically or horizontally. Big-Cal saves the selected month's calendar in a text file which you can simply copy to the printer or edit with your word processor to add fancy touches, appointments, or any special features your word processor and printer support. CAL-1MO prints a calendar to the screen from DOS. CAL2 Burke, Dan $? will display the calendar for any month of any year. The full screen is used for the display. Arrow keys are used to move to the next day or month. Calendar 2.2 (CALENDA) McClendon, Judson $0 will create a one-page yearly calendar for a specified year with the holidays for the year listed at the bottom and the holiday dates printed in bold in the calendar. It will print the calendar or send it to a disk file. BASIC source code is included. Calender Report 2.04 (CALRPT) WetZoft Applications $20 allows you to produce nicely formated calendar reports from Sidekick+'s Calendar without invoking Sidekick. It will print to the screen or printer. There is a switch for Weekly Separators, allows current date and time in heading; print tasks after appointments; 12/24 hour clock support (installable); appointment capacity is 845 and the calendar record capacity will hold 64k. CopyApp is a utility which copies an entry from a Sidekick appointment calendar, rolling it forward on a weekly, yearly (annual) or daily basis. HPLJ Calendar Printer 4.0 (HPCAL) (11-93 CD) Nakakihara, Douglas J. $0 prints out a one-page calendar for any year on an HP Laserjet II. It may work on other Laserjets if they have the line printer font. The HPLJ 4 is also supported. YearCal Sittler, Paul $0 is a step up from the usual run-of-the-mill calendar printing programs. This one will not only print a calendar (to screen, printer or file) for any year, it will also print 12- and 13-month fiscal year calendars starting with any month. It prints calendars in hex and octal, as well as decimal, in Julian dates, and in 16 different languages, including Cantonese, Gaelic, Irish, Japanese, and Turkish. Up to 500 entries are allowed. A monthly calendar is included. Mjog 2.17 The Cove Software Group $0 is an appointment reminder program that is fast and easy to use. It is primarily designed to be run as a reminder from your AUTOEXEC.BAT each morning. You can add entries from the DOS command line easily at any time. You can define different lookahead periods for each reminder. Remind Me! (REMNDME) RSE Inc. $10 alerts you to important events before they happen. Tikler 5.0 Olsen, Richard A. , ASP $15 is an appointment reminder that automatically looks ahead a specified number of days and displays any appointments within that range. Features include the ability to edit prior entries, select another event file, view a monthly calendar, password protection, file encryption, and protection against erasure. You can also specify the event file you want the program to access when it starts. ToDo 3.99 Hill, Art $29 is an appointment scheduling and reminder program. It displays a list of entries in date order. If you select an entry and press Enter, an additional note field will be displayed. (Since the note is optional, we think there should be some indication on the main screen of which entries have notes - just an asterisk or something.) Entries can be easily added and deleted. The program is also DESQview compatible. VAC and its associated files help schedule vacations for up to 50 people. (Requires Basic) What's Up 1.32 (WHATSUP) Nassar, Nassib & SoftBrush, ASP $20 displays reminder messages on specified dates. It is easy to use with many functional options such as wild card dates; week days allowing recurring reminders; user specified advance date displays; missed messages; three month calendar; reminders for any date; and calendars in your choice of English, Spanish, French, German, or Italian. Yellow Sticky (YSTICKY) Henning Associates $10 is a daily To-Do manager. It displays the current month and the following month, and lists current and previously unfinished projects. This is an excellent tool to help you priortize daily tasks. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #2670 -------------------------------- ApCal 3.20 Gamma Software , ASP $35 #3979 is a flexible and powerful time management tool. It provides full-screen monthly calendars with day blocks in which you can type notes. It has a customizable holiday file for birthdays and anniversaries which are automatically included in the proper calendars. Appointments can be scanned, searched, moved, copied, and printed. Alarms can be set to remind you of an appointment a given number of minutes before the appointment is due. Other features include boot alarms, which remind you of an event when you start up your computer, and a snooze alarm. Ample Notice 3.0 Harris, Mark , ASP $35 #27112/1041 is an appointment calendar with resident alarms. It accepts entries such as "third Thursday in November", or "every other Wednesday for two months". Archiving and sorting options let you keep track of past activities, and various types of printouts let you keep track of appointments when you are away from the computer. The pop-up alarm clock reads the appointment file automatically or can be used manually apart from Ample Notice. Many other features are included. Calendar Mate Hawk Software , ASP $25 #27112/2125 is an appointment calendar program. It can produce daily or monthly calendars. They can be printed in English, French, German, or Spanish. Printers supported include Epson and compatibles and HPLJ II/IIP. Features include the ability to compute the date for Easter, compute the lunar cycles and print when a full moon and new moon occur in the month, print events in compressed format on a monthly calendar, display the future occurrences of a repeating event, automatically reschedule events, print a single calendar or a range of calendars, print a yearly calendar on one page, and more. Requires 384K. DayMaster 4.0 Unicorn Software Limited, ASP $20 #27112/2126 will list all the events, birthdays, anniversaries, and appointments for the date as well as a quote for the day. Any events, or births/anniversaries that you enter will have a small arrows displayed next to them, appointments will flash. The year of the specific event will be displayed along with what was significant about it. Other features include the ability to create multiple data disks and a reminder system for any range of dates. Flexical Forester, John $? #27112/1914 combines two useful desk accessories, a flexible calendar and a complete address-book and mailing system, with a runner's and hiker's diary. H & P Calendar Pfannenschmid, Harold F., ASP $? #27112/1322 prints year or month calendars. You may select from 24 different graphics to add to the calendar and you can add text directly to the calendar by typing it in when the calendar is displayed on the screen. The screen is printed by means of a graphics screen dump. A database is included to let you keep track of occasions, but it is not integrated into the calendar printing. CGA-compatible video and graphics screen-dump software and printer are required. Also on the same disk by the same author is a loan amortization program. Make-My-Day Universal Business Concepts $0-$50 #27014/1042 besides having a very clever name, is an Appointment Calendar, a Job Scheduler, a Time Log and an Expense Account Manager for one or several people. Printed reports and worksheets keep you on track away from the computer. Not as flashy as the other programs, but still very solid. Days are broken down on the screen into quarter-hours when entering appointments, etc. PAL PAL Software $35-$50 #27014/0442 lets you get more out of Borland Software's SideKick program's appointment calendar module, which is fairly limited as it stands. PAL will let you search your appointment file to report all your appointments within a specified range of days from today, or from a date that you specify or which contain a match for a string that you specify and which fall on or after today or on or after a date that you specify. It will purge old entries not deleted by SK. PAL will also report all upcoming appointments within a range of dates, search for an appointment, auto-repeat appointments, nag you if you don't get a task done, and more. PAL can also be used as a stand-alone appointment calendar program, so you do not have to have Sidekick to use it. Alarms can be used for unattended operation of the computer by passing commands (or any keystrokes) to DOS or an application. TickleX Kelly, Richard A. $50 #27014/1043 is a major tickler program for appointments, deadlines, reminders and timetables. Reminders are used to jog you a couple of days before the actual appointments or deadlines. If you change the date of an entry, a unique feature of Ticklex is that any associated reminders that you have set are automatically changed too. One Ticklex installation can keep track of appointments (et al) for up to five people. The program is very slick, seems bullet-proof, and installs easily. Features include the following: memory-resident alarm holds up to 20 events per day and can be scheduled days, months or years in advance; tracks income, expenses and time worked and produces itemized reports; prints calendars; rank deadlines; and faster mass rescheduling and record omission when used on networks. It will also sort through scheduled events by not just one, but several employees at once; you can even get two weekly views of anyone's schedule, and a weekly calendar print-out. and give the user the option to alter CONFIG.SYS himself. The output options include two variations of the standard report, a printed wall calendar, a simple Gannt chart, and a time-scheduled report. It can track the schedules of up to 200 people simultaneously, either on a stand-alone computer or on a local area network. TimeSaver III MicroCon, Inc. $25 #27014/0554 is an appointment calendar program that displays a calendar for a month. Each day is divided into time slots on the screen and a solid bar across the time slots indicate appointments. By using the cursor keys, you can quickly move to any day to see the detail of the appointments. PgUp and PgDn changes months. Other features include overlapping appointments, 24 hour-a-day scheduling capability, one-minute time increments for appointments, 5 and 30 minutes automatic with pointers, complete task management apart from appointment scheduling, special day tags. Reminders Micro Data Assist $20 #27113/1344 is an appointment calendar program. Ten codes are used to group each reminder under specific headings: 0=hold open, 1=closed, 2=holiday, 3=deadline, 4=appointment, 5=meeting, 6=other, 7=birthday, 8=anniversary, and 9=special. You can view the calendar for a whole month with a single screen display. All your days are flagged to show reminders important to you. You can display a summary of the entire calendar for the current month, and create a handout file containing reminders that can be passed on to other users. Resident-TaskManager WetZoft Applications, ASP $30 #27113/2010 is a memory-resident program to manage lists of tasks, reminders or ToDo's for an individual in as little as 6k of DOS RAM. Data stored for each entry includes description, project name, date, priority, and up to five lines of notes. The program has very few features. The author says its main attraction is its TSR capability, which pretty much requires either a hard disk or EMS. If you have EMS, you should really get DESQview and put one of the more powerful time managers in a window, which is at least as good as having a TSR. Additional features include searching of the main task file, single file swapping, a DOS shell, extended attached descriptions, and short cut keys to menus for reference. Schedule Dunn, Stephen M. $20 #27113/2328 is an appointment calendar, reminder, and memo program. It works well for a single user, but it will also support multiple users on a network by recording a name and access code for each. There does not appear to be any option for printing a combined schedule, so we are not sure what the advantage to this being multi-user is. In addition, we would like to see a command line or set-up option for skipping the log-on part for single users, for whom it is just a nuisance. Aside from that, the program is well designed and easy to use. The appointment scheduling part of the program allows repeating entries for holidays, etc. Memos can be made in Month, Week, Day and subject files. A week-at-a-glance is offered and a monthly calendar can be printed, but it does not display appointments on it. Tickler Canning, Lynn $0 #27113/1279 is an appointment reminder program. It will print a list of your appointments for a specified number of days. It allows reminders allows messages to be tagged as recurring annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly or temporary. It automatically removes reminders into an archive file when their date has passed. It has a memory resident editor for adding appointments. TimeSaver/MC MicroCon $69 #27114/2197 has all the features of TimeSaver plus other multi-user oriented functions. It is ideal for a local area network server where each individual can interact with other users on the network for requesting meeting times, coordinating conference rooms, or for scheduling facilities or equipment. It is compatible with most local area networks including IBM, Novell and 3Com. However, a network is not required to benefit from TimeSaver/MC. Today Kincaid, Patrick $0 #27114/0871 is a reminder program for your appointments, but it also comes with a set of files that tells you what happened on "this day in history" - just like on the radio. Interesting, entertaining and useful. Features include the ability to set a reminder for a range of dates, the ability to have multiple databases, and several other technical changes. Year Planner Flowsoft $10 #27114/1729 is an organizing tool which mimics the familiar "write-on, wipe-off" wall planner calendar system most businesses use to schedule important events. You are allowed to write deadlines, appointments, and other important information into "day blocks" which can later be printed out in a large standard calendar format. (Numerous printers are supported.) Information can be easily updated or erased altogether and reprinted. Features include an overlay template to apply similar messages in many "day blocks", an onscreen year summary so you can see the whole year at a glance, large calendar printouts, and all major holidays already built in. Our only suggestion is that it would be easier to read and grasp if the day and date were across the tops of the day-blocks instead of down the sides. Requires 512k. Absent Micro Masters Software $20 #27115/2566 is a fast and easy way to track and keep employees aware of absences. Reports give breakdown of vacations, illness, and other absences. Employee Scheduling Assistant Guia International Corp., ASP $39 #27115/3896 keeps track of vacations and other activities such as sick leave, education, personal days off, work time and wages, shift assignments and so on. Calendars show holidays and schedules and can be viewed for a day, month or year. Employee start and stop times are graphically displayed. You may have up to 99 departments per directory with up 50 employees each. Several report options are built in. You can easily view and edit past, present and future schedules. Office Time Manager Lamb, Ken $20 #27115/3038 [2 disks] will help maintain and track personnel time off, including vacation, leave of absence, funeral, jury duty, sick time, etc. It can produce calendar reports by selected month, which include all persons having time off during that month. Requires 512k RAM and 700+k of disk space. (The author can no longer be reached at the address provided in the documentation.) Vacation Schedular ANYKey Software $20 #27115/2329 is a vacation scheduling program. It is fast, menu driven and easy to use. Schedules are entered and viewed via monthly calendars. Months can be quickly changed with the cursor keys. For each employee, the program keeps track of the number of days vacation allowed, number of days scheduled, and number already taken for the current and following year. Calendar schedules showing all vacation schedules can be viewed on-screen or printed out. The maximum number of names in a roster file is 150 and up to 200 files can be displayed in the roster file selection window. When testing the program, don't make the mistake we did and try to make entries for dates prior to the current date and end up thinking that the program does not work. You are not allowed to make or delete entries in the past. (It pays to read the documentation first.) JCal Penner, Lester $17 #27116/2165 calculates dates in the Jewish calendar. It is supplied with two conversion utilities that can be used in conjunction with other software to convert between Gregorian and Jewish dates. The utilities take their input from the DOS command line, so programs that can SHELL to DOS or otherwise run programs from DOS could run these and pass the dates to be converted as command line parameters. Mayan Calendar 3.62 R. K. West Consulting, ASP $29 #27116/1493 is based on the use of the Mayan's ancient system of two calendars running parallel with each other. The program will allow you to calculate 20th century dates or dates outside the 20th century for the Mayan Calendar and optionally display a horoscope for that date. A pop-up chart of Mayan and Aztec day and month names is included. Appointment Calendar Weinberg, Alan $40 #27646/2920 is an appointment calendar that works from a month-at-a-glance, block calendar display. Each day/block says how many appointments you have in the a.m. and p.m. Selecting a day brings up another screen with half-hour increments for the day in which you can view and enter more detail. We prefer the approach used by TimeSaver (#0554) in which the monthly calendar indicates appointments by the half-hour with grids in the box, but this program is fast and easy to use with some nice features too, such as Btree files for fast data access. Requires 512K. Calendar Keeper Dataphile Software, ASP $33 #27646/3217 maintains up to ten separate calendar databases. It supports five event types including current-year-only events; permanent events; consecutive days (range of dates); every x number of days; monthly on day-of-week events. There are three report formats including monthly wall calendar, week-at-a-glance calendar, and the year-at-a-glance calendar. It works with all printers. Requires a high-capacity or hard disk and DOS 3+. CalSK2 WetZoft Applications, ASP $25 #27646/3285 creates a formatted preview report of appointments and tasks from Sidekick 2's calendar file without invoking Sidekick 2. You can preview any next number of days; search and display/print selected tasks and appointments; look ahead for specially tagged events and list notes that are attached to appointments and tasks. Requires Sidekick 2 and 320K. Early Bird Allan Computer Products, ASP $32 #27646/2862 is a full-featured, easy to use reminder program. Reminder types can be simple (daily, weekly, annually), or as complex as you need (3rd from the last Thursday of every 9th week). Features include desktop calendar and scan modes, pull-down and pop-up menus, context sensitive on-line help, alarms, DOS shell, mouse support, file manipulation commands, selectable group printing, and more. The program also offers user definable classes, notice, print and display options, and special effects. This is a very well done package, with enough options to keep the busiest person on schedule. HiPerCAL HiPerSoft Systems $43 #27646/3200 is a block-calendar printing program. You can maintain up to nine different date lists with up to 500 entries each and print block calendars for one or more months at any time. Comments of up to 32 characters each can be entered, and up to four comments can be printed in a day's block. A printer capable of 172 characters per line is required (or an HPLJ in Landscape mode). The calendars are rather plain, but functional. in View Integrasoft Corporation $50 #27647/3613 is a personal information manager. In addition to the usual calendar, clock, and scheduling features that are standard on this type of program, it also allows you to launch programs from your to-do list. Other features include context sensitive help, a comprehensive tutorial, and text search and retrieval. Hypertext-like linking lets you associate other pages of text to keywords in your notepad. Mouse support included and a hard disk recommended. MaxiCalendar Ernst, Thomas J. $40 #27647/2697 is a full-featured appointment calendar system. It can be run in a pop-up mode in as little as 8k of DOS RAM. It features automatic scheduling of meetings, appointments, and events that occur daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or annually, a "to do" notepad, Month-at-a-Glance view, and a standard holiday file. It will calculate the number of days between dates and has on-line, context sensitive help. Independent calendars are available to support more than one person's schedule. Calendars may be saved and printed. Personal Calendar FunStuff, ASP $35 #27647/3056 displays a three-month scrollable calendar, a running analog and digital clock, and appointment and note lists. The program will alert you when a scheduled event is coming due or overdue. By swapping to EMS or hard disk, the program only uses 6k of DOS RAM. Que Accounting/Personal Info Manager McHugh, Gerald $10 #27647/2791 is a time management program that also contains a notepad, calculator, phone directory, appointment calender, and a query and report writer. ASCII files can be imported and exported. Business StartManager 4.0 [BPIM40] Linnabury, John $40 #12447 (10-93 CD) is a personal information manager with a very attractive graphical interface. From a menu bar, you can pop up a phone book, calendar, infobase, to-do list, reminder, journal, daily planner and more. Calendar Wise 1.11 Blue Cannon Software, ASP $30 #4150 is a large, block-calendar type of appointment and scheduling program. Calendar Wise contains 100 separate calendars for a variety of subjects. Multiple calendars, such as for different people or projects, can be viewed or merged together. Entries can be made using yearly, monthly, daily, and weekly frequencies. Unlimited entries are allowed for each day. Notes can be attached to items. Items can be found quickly and easily. Calendar formats can be changed to view one to 25 weeks. Calendars can be sent to the printer or file. The program supports a network with unlimited users. Requires EGA/VGA, 512K RAM, a hard drive and DOS 3.01 or above. Events HAHN Software $25 #2923 is an easy way to maintain a database of events or a set of milestones, and produce time-period bar charts. The time periods can be 24 months in monthly increments, six months in weekly increments, or one month in daily increments. Requires 640K. A color monitor and a hard disk are recommended. On This Day 1.4 The Software Construction Co., ASP $25 #3983 is an event database manager which can handle dates in the Hebrew, Islamic, Julian, and Gregorian calendars as well as calculate weekday holidays and holidays based upon Easter. A personal database may be created to contain events important to each specific user. Some other types of information which may be displayed are astronomical events; birthdays of famous people; historical events; national observations; and religious holidays and events. Other features include a compression utility and time zone control. ]]]]]
